REMY (CP)

Remy is a special girl, I have fostered many dogs but she dug deep in my heart. And by reading her story you will learn why. Remy had a home once, she had a family to call her own, to love and protect. But alas, we don't all get to choose our parents, and Remy unfortunately was given up because the family had to move to a place where they didn't allow dogs. I took Remy in to foster until she found a home. At first I was skeptical, being she was a full grown 3 year old Rottie, I had no idea how her personality was going to be and if she behaved well. I also never had experience with this breed. Let me say this, Remy has been the best behaved dog I have ever had. She sits, she stays, she loves to play fetch, she listens to you and has a keen understanding of humans. She gets lazy at times at which point she will just lays on her bed and refuses to get up, much like a 15 year old teenager refusing to get up and clean their room.
Because of her big heart, Remy is a protective girl. When I am home alone, my version of turning on the alarm is leaving Remy in the living room. I don't think anyone brave enough to take on a 90 lbs Rottie. She loves to fetch and catch, and did I mention she is smart? She will do anything for an avocado (yes I said avocado), they are her weakness. Literally, her eyeballs bulge out and she salivates like crazy if she sees an avocado. She also loves fruits and carrots, yes she is as unique as they get. I think in a past life she was a vegetarian because she tolerates meat, but give her an avocado and she goes nuts over it.
On a final note, my vet determined Remy has elbow dysplasia on the front right elbow. I noticed she slightly limps when she first gets up in the morning, so I had her checked out. Thankfully it was not hip dysplasia, but elbow dysplasia which is not as bad. Really what it means is she gets Rimmadyl once a day in a very low dose to help with swelling. During the hot summer days she is fine, but the cold gets to her. She does not require any kind of special treatment, this just means she can't really go hiking or for long walks.
