R.i.P. "Diamond & Pebbles"We lost Diamond on March 22. She was the first of the litter to be named because of the diamond white spot on her back. She was the biggest one that had no problem pushing the others out of the way to eat. She was a feisty girl that loved to play and cuddle. Overnight Diamond started suffering the neurological impacts of Distemper and was having seizures.
Pebbles was the smallest and sickest of the litter. She was so dainty but always found her way with her brothers and sisters. She overcame her kennel cough and had a few days of playing, romping around with lots of energy and getting feisty with her siblings! It was great so see her that way! Sadly, she passed on the 27th, having worsened overnight like Diamond. I had no choice but to end her suffering too. This same day, the remaining five puppies have been separated in different rooms to give them the best chance of survival. Millie went to her foster home today! Yay!! My heart feels better over this!! Robin, Scott and Kelsey were happy to welcome her in to their home. I sent her with a bed, food, toys, pee pads, newspapers, treats and blankets. I will go and walk her for them next Sunday as they will be gone and i have asked them to not introduce her to other dogs and a different home for about two weeks to let her settle down. They agreed. I will explain when we talk. I miss her as she is so sweet. Olive, Boogie, Felicia, Quincy and Chip are adjusting to being separated from each other and their mom. Chip is the sickest and is holding his own. Marisa mason Taylor has been an invaluable volunteer by donating personally and donating many extra blankets and beds, crates and toys for the puppies. She also comes to my house while I am at work to feed, love and nebulize whichever puppy needs it! My friend Michele Merk has also gone beyond and helped when we had to clean the rooms and move the puppies. They have both rushed over here to help on the two days my heart was broken. |
