DenzelDenzel really needs to be seen in person to appreciate his magnificence! All of our volunteers had seen his photos, but when they got the chance to encounter his beauty live and in person their collective jaws dropped. Denzel is also full of love for people and is very easy on the leash. We're working on his dog skills and he's already progressed in a very short time.
This brindle Boxer boy is 70 pounds of perfection! |
DENZELDenzel... Well he is very sweet. He is a regular love, likes toys boy does he like toys. He chews them like he is cutting rear molars but they say he is 2 yrs. He is high energy and he has no idea how to contain that energy but if you work with him he will start to get the idea. I don't think he has ever had any training or any kind of rules, limitations or boundries set on him to know what he is supposed to do. He wants you to play with him and will even bring whatever he is playing with to you and drop it at your feet. But as you must do with boxers keep an eye on him when you bend down to get it because he is so excited and starved for attention he is how should I put this oh like a child that ate all their Easter candy and maybe some of their friends candy too. He means no harm just excited. I found that if you make him sit then step on the toy and hold your finger up or your whole hand and tell him wait move the toy back watch him and squat down for the toy you can pick it up then throw it and he will bring it back to you again. I lost track of time when I was in the viewing area with him because I enjoyed him so much. I got to the shelter at 245 and left at about 405-410 and I was only with Denzel. He is infectious you just want to stay with him. Well by the time I left I had him backing up like you would a horse by saying back back (after stepping in front of the toy) and he would back up stand there and wait for me to pick up the toy and throw it. I still watched him because he was still a boxer and I know how fast they can come off the ground and be in your face. Awesome boy though he will be great for a family that is busy and likes to play and exercise. He needs some training. Basic commands and manners. He was a stray so that explains some of that. He is always happy. Watches everything. He's like that 2yr old child that is afraid that if they fall asleep they will miss something well he is like that with everything around him. He was trying to watch the dog at the front of the viewing area, the dogs just to our left and the people coming and going in and out of the shelter office behind us all while trying to chew his ball and have me throw it for him. Yes if you couldn't tell I like this boy and I know he will be a great family member. Oh he is so excited all the time he isn't really interested in the camera. I would try to get pictures of him when I first saw him and when I held the camera up for any length of time so I could get a good pic he would let out one woof, when I moved the camera he went back to playing. The last time I was there because we were together he just wanted to play and see everything and didn't want to stand still for his pic. Funny boy..
